THIS IS AN ANTIQUE CENTER SWING ROCKING HORSE. IT WAS A GIFT TO MY FATHER WHEN HE WAS 4 YEARS OLD (1926) AND LIVED IN LANSING, MI. MY FAMILY MOVED TO ARIZONA IN 1957, WHERE THE HORSE STAYED UNTIL IT WAS MOVED BACK TO MICHIGAN IN 2001. THESE ARE RARE AND IF FOUND, HAVE BEEN RESTORED OR NEED TO BE RESTORED. THIS HORSE HAS BEEN ENJOYED FOR 4 GENERATIONS. IT WAS PARTIALLY RESTORED IN THE 60 s AND NOW IS NEED OF ANOTHER RESTORATION. THERE IS A CRACK AROUND THE NECK OF THE HORSE AND THE LEATHER EARS ARE MISSING. PART OF THE ORIGINAL LEATHER BRIDLE IS STILL IN TACT. THE EYES, TAIL, MANE ARE ORIGINAL. THE SADDLE/SADDLE HORN WERE PART OF THE EARLIER RESTORATION AS WAS THE REIN AND STIRRUP GUARDS. THE LEATHER STRAPS THAT SUSPENDED THE STIRRUPS HAVE WORN THROUGH, BUT THE ORIGINAL WOOD/WIRE STIRRUPS WERE SAVED. THE WROUGHT IRON SWING MECHANISM AT THE BACK WHICH KEEPS THE HORSE CENTER NEEDS TO BE SECURED. DIMENSIONS: BASE IS 45 LONG AND 16 WIDE. THE BASE IS 23 TO THE BELLY OF THE HORSE. THE STIRRUP STRAPS MEASURE 5 AND THE STIRRUPS MEASURE 5 . THE STIRRUP S WOOD FOOT REST MEASURES 3-1/2 X 1-3/4 X 1/4 . HEIGHT TO SADDLE SEAT IS 30 AND 39 TO TOP OF HORSE S HEAD. THERE IS NO MAKER S MARK VISIBLE ON THE HORSE OR BASE. THROUGH SOME RESEARCH CENTER SWING WOOD ROCKING HORSES WERE MADE BY WHITNEY-REED , USA circa 1906 AND FULLY RESTORED SELL FOR AROUND $3,000.00.
